Course Description: More HTML and Intro to CSS - MaryLou White
This is a basic six 6-week course that will introduce you to some interesting HTML code that you can use on your web pages, how to create a form, and an how to make an image map. The last part of the class will be a basic introduction to CSS and how to do some simple coding that can change the look of your web pages with a few simple code changes. At the end of the 6 weeks, there will be an additional two days for wrap-up and questions. The forum will be closed at the end of the second wrap-up day.
This course will not cover any of the HTML code learned in my earlier classes. You are expected to know how to create a basic page, including tables. You will not be creating a new web site in this class.
The student must have a good understanding of basic HTML.
Tools NeededVisual Arts Academy will provide web space for each student to use for the duration of the class. You will need an FTP program, simple text editor, and an HTML Validation program. You may use programs of your own choice or the free programs that are provided in the class.
Class WorkYou will be given several exercises to complete throughout each lesson that will cover what you have learned in that lesson as well as prior lessons. There will be a lot of "hands on" learning and repetition throughout the class. Approximate time to complete each lesson is 2-3 hours. New lessons will be posted on a weekly basis. I will send you an email when the lesson has been posted.
Class Bulletin BoardAll of your exercises and assignments will be posted on the class bulletin board. Each exercise/assignment must be validated and be error free before posting. All questions related to the class should be posted on the board so everyone can benefit from both the question and the answer. Be sure to fill out your profile as well.
Getting HelpIf you need help with a specific problem, please post it in the classroom forum on the bulletin board. I will check the board several times a day for messages. If you are really desperate and need immediate help, you can e-mail me at marylou@visual-arts-academy.com.
Copyrighted ImagesThe use of copyrighted images in this class is strictly forbidden. This includes using tubes, fairies, angel and other graphics that belong to another artist. We will provide you with links to images that are free to use.
This course will include hands-on activity while learning how to use use some additional code in your HTML pages. Lessons are all written on a beginner level without a lot of technical terms. All work will be posted on the class bulletin board for review.
